Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IISAT) Admission Test (ISAT) is
a National Level Entrance Examination, as is clear from its name. This
examination is for admission into B.Tech. based on the applicants’ JEE
(Main) scores. The All India Rank received by them will be one of the
major determining factors for admission into ISAT. It has 3 major
B.Tech. courses – Bachelors of Technology in Aerospace Engineering,
Avionics, Physical Sciences. Aerospace Engineering is space and
technology oriented, and overlaps with Mechanical Engineering. Avionics
is electronics and communications oriented, and is linked with Advanced
Electronics in digital and communication, control systems and computer
systems employed in aerospace systems. Physical Sciences is concerned
with the application of basic sciences in Space Science, Space
Technology and Space Application.
The total number of available seats is approximately 156. There are 60 openings in Aerospace Engineering and Avionics, and 36 in Physical Sciences. (The numbers might be varying from year to year.
Each correct answer will be rewarded 3 marks and 1 mark will be subtracted for every incorrect answer. Even unattempted questions will be negatively marked. The multiple choice questions will have 4 options, inclusive of the one correct answer. The applicants have to darken the only correct option according to him / her in the OMR sheet.

ISAT 2016 Application Form
- The ISAT 2016 Application procedure is an online one. Please visit admission.iist.ac.in. The applicants must possess their unique JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced) Roll Numbers and personal email ids.
- After the online registration, the payment has to be made. It can be made via Challan, which must be downloaded and printed. The payment can be done one day onwards, at any of the SBI and UBI branches.
- The ISAT 2016 Application Fees are non-refundable. Male applicants under the General and OBC quotas have to pay INR 600/-. Female candidates under the same have to pay INR 300/-. All applicants applying against the SC / ST / PwD quotas also require to pay INR 300/-.
- NRI applicants must pay the required fees through a DD addressed to “THE REGISTRAR, IIST”, payable at Thiruvananthapuram. They must write their names and their registration numbers behind the DD and sent to the Chairman of the B.Tech. Admissions of IIST.
ISAT 2016 Eligibility Criteria
- Indian citizens of a maximum age of 26 years are eligible for application at ISAT. However, the privileged applicants are given a relaxation up to an additional 4 years.
- The 10+2 Examinations or any equivalent examination must have cleared from a recognized Board / University.
- Appearing for JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced) is absolutely necessary for the applicants. In the Advanced examination, General category applicants must score an aggregate of 20% with at least 5% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics individually. OBC category applicants must score an aggregate of 18% with at least 4.5% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics individually. SC / ST / PwD category applicants must score an aggregate of 10% with at least 2.5% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics individually.
