This realization embarked the journey of MAEER – in 1983 with the establishment of Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), one of the first private engineering college in Maharashtra which still remains the flagship institute of the group.
With the sole objective of meeting the long felt need of a centre of scientific and educational research, which would meet the challenges of the present and the future technical advancements of the fast changing world, MIT Group of Institutions was established as a society and charitable trust. Since then, the MIT Group of Institutions have grown leaps and bounds and has made a strong impact in the field of education throughout the country. With more than 10 campuses in the state of Maharashtra covering almost 1000 acres of area, the MIT Group provides education in the fields of Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Marine Engineering, Insurance, Distance Education, Telecom Management, Lighting, Design, Food & Technology, Retail Management, Masters in Business Administration, School of Government and also School Education. At any given point of time, more than 50000 students are pursuing various courses all over our 65+ institutes. With this statistics, the MIT Group is almost a big University by itself.
An initial step taken by a great visionary Dr. Vishwanath Karad, who nurtured a strong conviction to provide the best of education to the society today has resulted in a strong educational realm. MIT Group today boasts of the best infrastructure facilities and application of varied teaching methodologies. With highly qualified and dedicated teachers, the group has grown leaps and bounds and will continue to do so looking for both horizontal and vertical growth patterns. Presently, we have more than 4000 teaching staff and almost more than 6000 non teaching staff.
Most of our institutes are affiliated to the University of Pune as of now, but, as per the recent changes in the Government Regulations, we have
applied for a University status and very soon, MIT Group of Institutions will be a full fledged University
It is worth mentioning that in appreciation of the work carried out by MAEER’s MIT, Pune under the banner of World Peace Centre in championing the cause of promoting the Value Based Universal Education System for spreading the message of peace in the society, based on the appropriate blending of science, technology and spirituality, UNESCO, Paris bestowed the World Peace Centre, MAEER’s MIT, Pune, India with an UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Democracy, Peace and Tolerance on 12th May 1998.

About MIT Pune
MAEER’S Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), established in 1983, is today amongst the top engineering colleges in India. The news magazine ‘Outlook’ has ranked MIT Pune as 1st in Maharashtra & 11th in India amongst the finest Private Engineering Colleges. MIT is affiliated to the University of Pune and recognized by the Government of Maharashtra and the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
MIT, Pune Institutes offer four year degree courses in various branches of engineering and post graduate courses in select areas. Admission to all courses is based on merit as per rules and norms laid down by the Director Technical Education ( DTE), Maharashtra State.
Eligibility to get admission in BE engineering courses at MIT pune
Passed the HSC (10+2) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with following subjects: English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secured minimum 45% marks i.e. not less than 135 marks out of 300 marks (40% marks i.e. not less than 120 marks out of 300 marks for OBC candidates from Maharashtra) in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together.
Eligibility Criteria

a) For the candidate of Maharashtra State
In addition to educational qualification as specified, candidates are required to appear for JEE-Main 2014 and secure nonzero score to be eligible for admission for State Quota (65%) seats through Central Assessment Process (CAP).
b) For candidates outside of Maharashtra State
In addition to educational qualification as specified, candidates from Maharashtra State as well as outside Maharashtra State are required to appear & qualify in All India Engineering Entrance Examination (JEE-Main 2014) conducted by C.B.S.E., New Delhi for the Academic Year – 2014-15 to be eligible for admission.
c) For the candidates wishing admission under Management Quota
Candidates from Maharashtra State as well as from outside Maharashtra State having educational qualification as specified, are eligible for Management Quota seats provided they have appeared for JEE-Mains 2014 conducted by C.B.S.E New Delhi . However, they are required to apply separately to the Management of the respective institutes for these seats.
d) For Diploma holder candidates
After admissions of candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria mentioned at para (a, b & c) above, if the vacancies still exist after the cut-off date declared by the concerned Government authority, the Principal may admit diploma holders who have passed the diploma course in Engineering / Technology with minimum of 50% marks and medium of instruction as English from Polytechnics affiliated to MSBTE or AICTE approved autonomous Polytechnics in Maharashtra State (for Maharashtra State Candidates) or such polytechnics situated in or outside the MH State (for outside Maharashtra State Candidates). Such admissions are also as per merit of candidates applied for the particular un-aided college.

However, they are required to apply separately to the Management of the respective institutes for these seats
