Kalam Institute of Technology (KIT),Ganjam was established in 2008 by Utkal Insurance Management and Educational Trust. The institute is affiliated to the Biju Patnaik University of Technology and approved by All india Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The institute was started with the sole objective of promoting technical education in Orissa with a view to support the needs of industry and society at large by providing due opportunity to the people of Orissa, to upgrade their economic standard and maintain a better human life.

 

The college envisions to make the Institute a centre of excellence by providing required education in the field of science & technology for the intellectual growth of the students of Orissa and other states of India in particular and contribute substantially to the field of Technical Education in India & abroad in general.

 Admission Procedures  at Kalam Institute of Technology

For Btech:

• The Institute follows the curriculum prescribed by the Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela, Orissa, which is consistent with model curriculum envolved by AICTE, The present curricula has a broad based core science and technical component, departmental compulsory courses, professional electives and a project dissertation, Regular revisions follow keeping pace with the industry needs in the National and International sceneries. 
• For admission process the Institute follows the guideline of admission rules/procedure prescribed by Joint Entrance Examination, Orissa for its regular courses. The candidates not qualified in JEE/AIEEE shall not be allowed for admission. Candidates with +2 Science background conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Orissa or equivalent examination recognized by BPUT are admitted to the B. Tech Programme through the rank attained in JEE, Orissa. 85% of the seats are filled through the entrance tests and the remaining 15% seats under NRI quota are filled on merit at the institute level. Diploma holders and science graduates are also eligible for direct admission into the IInd year B.Tech. courses under lateral entry scheme as per the rules of Govt. of Orissa & relevant joint Entrance Examination.

For MBA:

• For admission into 2 years P.G. programme in M.B.A. the Institute follows the rules set by the government of Orissa and Biju Patnaik University of Technology.

Fee Structure:
The Institute runs on self-financing and no grant-in-aid basis. The course fees is as prescribed, fixed and approved by Govt. of Orissa . The last date of collection of annual dues for the first year students is fixed by BPUT/State Govt. which is notified during the admission period.

Facilities  at Kalam Institute of Technology  :-

 

1)Library

• KIT has an Air- Conditioned core computer centre in addition to departmental computer laboratory. The Laboratory is equipped with application softwares like Oracale, Visual Basic & various Programming Languages. Required terminals and printers are also available. ?

2)Internet:

• The Institute has set up 8 mbps broad-band Internet facility fitted with Wi-Fi equipment so that the internet is accessible from all places in the campus. This general facility is useful for both the students and the faculty members. The faculty members utilize the internet for deriving useful information on the subjects they teach and also use the net for furtherance of their research activities. Students can browse relevant websites and download educational materials round the clock as per their requirement

3)Hostel

• Ladies Hostel

Two separate hostels for the girl students are available in the Berhampur Town. Students from the other States and distant locations are staying in the Hostel. They are provided with Tables, Chairs, Cots etc., and reading room with news papers, magazines and provisions for indoor games.

• Gents Hostel

Two separate hostels for boys are housed in the campus. All facilities are provided for the students in the hostel to include a reading room; play ground, indoor games facility etc.
