Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Kolkata was established in 1947 holds the excellence of being the oldest marine engineering faculty of Asian country. The institute was antecedently referred to as board of Marine Engineering coaching. In 1994, it had been renamed as Marine Engineering and analysis Institute. related to to Jadavpur University, it offers beneath graduate programme.
The Institute was established at the onset of Independence in 1947 to satisfy the growing need of marine engineers in India. The Institution earlier named as Directorate of Marine Engineering Training had its headquarter in Calcutta and a branch at Mumbai, under Ministry of Shipping (Government of India). The Institute has been renamed Marine Engineering and Research Institute in 1994.
The Institute was a dream project of a new India as she was expanding her horizon in the maritime field, starting with an initial intake of 60 cadets, today about 300 young highly motivated Engineers are passing through her hallowed portals.

Admission Details of MERI Kolkata:-

The enclosed Undertaking Form (Appendix-I,Appendix-II& Appendix-III) duly signed by you and countersigned by your parent/guardian.
All the certificates in original (10+2,10th or equivalent for age proof etc.) along with three attested photo copies for our records.In case the certificate is not yet issued,a certificate to be obtained from the college/School concerned.
Admit Card of the CET or photo ID Card from school alongwith attested xerox copies of it.
Certificate in support of belonging to SC/ST/OBC from competent authority, in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates.
3 recent passport size photographs (front face)
Your blood-group report tested from a standard laboratory.
Proof of income of parent/guardian (from valid authorities/employer).
