Canara Engineering College (CEC) is a premier engineering institute of the Mangalore region. CEC is established by the Canara Group of Institutions (Canara High School Association) founded by the late Ammembal Subba Rao Pai. The college is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. And we are recognized by Government Of Karnataka and approved by AICTE, New Delhi.
Canara Engineering College is run by Canara High School Association (CHSA), an association based in Mangalore contributing towards Konkani linguistic minority education. The group was founded by the late Sri. Ammembal Subba Rao Pai (also founder of Canara Bank in 1891. Ammembal Subbarao Pai was a social reform and a philanthropist who aimed at imparting modern education blended with ancient cultural values to the youth of Dakshina Kannada. With this in mind he started the Canara High School Association with its primary project being the CHS which was established in 1891 and functions even today. The group which is now primarily funded by alumni, also runs several other educational institutions in and around Mangalore.
The College was started in the year 2001 with 180 seats in 3 Branches of Engineering. Two more Engineering branches were added in the year 2004. At present it has 8 sections with a total intake of 504 seats including 24 seats of SNQ.

Admission Details of CEC, Mangalore:-

The minimum qualification for admission for BE is a pass in the 2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent qualifying examination with a minimum aggregate of 45% in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics are compulsory subjects along with Biotechnology or Computer science or Biology or Electronics as optional subjects in place of chemistry.40% marks in qualifying examination in case of *SC, ST, Category 1 & OBC Category candidates.

Infrastructure for CEC, Mangalore:-

Hostel Facility:-

• The hostel is available inside the college campus with good facilities of food and good environment for the students to study.
• There are total 63 rooms in girl's hostel 1st block [Block-I (I-G)] and 139 students are there in that block with 2 students per room (126 capacity).
• There are total 102 rooms in girl's hostel 2nd block [Block- II: (II-G & III-G)] and 199 students are there in that block with 2 students per room (204 capacity).
• There are total 65 rooms in boy's hostel 1st block [Block-I] with 2 students per room (130 capacity)
• There are total 79 rooms in boy's hostel 2nd block [Block- II] and 128 students are there in that block with 2 students per room (158 capacity).
• There are total 148 rooms in boy's hostel 3rd block [Block- III] and 200 students are there in that block with 2 students per room (296 capacity).
• There is a guest house in the college campus which have total 4 rooms and good facilities.

WI-FI Enabled Campus:-

• Wi-Fi facility with 100MBPS speed has been facilitated in the campus which will help the students to access internet easily and fastly

Central Library:-
The central Library of CEC is located in the heart of the institution and it is easily accessible to the all readers of the institution. Our library has got independent building with carpet area of 900 Sq.Mtrs. spread in 2 floors. Spacious reading halls are provided for students. The library has a collection of more than 36,000 volumes mostly multiple copies of Text books, Reference Books , hand books Encyclopedias etc. Competitive examination books on GRE, TOEFEL, CAT, MAT, and GATE are also available. All books are Bar coded.
Cafeteria:-

• The College Cafe is a great hang out for all students.
• The College Cafe provides healthy & hygienic condition in & around.
• Hygienic food at reasonable cost.
• Veg & Non Veg Food facility separately
• The Canteen serve both North Indian and South Indian cuisine and provide sumptuous food to the students.

Bus Facility:-

• Transporting Staff and Students from their locality to the college on each working day, before college starts in the morning.
• Transporting Staff and Students back from the college to their respective locality after closer of the college for the day.

Mess Facility:-

• The College Mess is a great hang out for all students.
• Hygienic food at reasonable cost.
• Veg & Non Veg Food facility separately
• The Mess serve both North Indian and South Indian cuisine and provide sumptuous food to the students.

Sports Facilities:-

• The college is endowed with full pledged equipment for playing different sports and games
• Facilities provided for sports includes separate indoor and outdoor games and sports arenas for boys and girls.
• Special coaching to players for participating in inter college and intra college tournaments
• CEC students participation in games and sports includes cricket, football, basket ball, volly ball,tabe tennis, chess, carrom etc
• Each year sports day will be celeberated for students and staffs inorder to showcase their talents and to encourage their sports spirit.

Medical facilities:-

• The medical service in campus provides a wide variety of general health and wellness services to help keep students at their best.
• Father Muller hospital, Thumbay agreed to provide medical services to CEC.
• Sevices of medical Allied health personnel to conduct medical checkup and health education programmes in CEC campus as and when required
• Father Mullar Hospital offers to provide consultation and admission facility for the students of CEC in the hospital on priority and provide treatment on credit basis.
• When there is emergency and a student is to be shifted to the hospital, the hospital will provide ambulance for the same.
• Dr. Sharika P.Rai (B.A.M.S), Consultant Aayurvedic Physician, visits our college campus at 4:30P.M to 5:30 PM, in all working days.

Bank facilities:-

• The campus also provides banking facilities to the students and staff through a fully fleged branch of Canara Bank within the college campus.
• The campus also provides ATM facility through a Canara Bank ATM.

CEC Placement Companies :- 

Training and Placement Department is established as an integral part of the College with an active role in career services for its Students. Every student pursuing a professional career in engineering has an ambition to obtain a challenging job in a company of repute (a brand name) and make a successful career. The Department conducts various training sessions for students by eminent trainers from the industry and conduct workshops and seminar to enhance their skills.
